Spurrier concerned over line issues with Missouri ahead (AUDIO)

Spurrier expects tough game with Mizzou

Even though his USC team has scored nearly 50 points in each of the past two games, Gamecock head coach Steve Spurrier said Sunday the offensive line has not played well and jobs are up in the air.

Spurrier also said on his Sunday conference call that quarterback Connor Shaw does not need surgery for the slight fracture in his shoulder blade.  Shaw was reinjured in Saturday night’s win over UAB.  His status for this week’s game won’t be determined until later in the week.

Other notes from Spurrier Sunday:

  • Missouri defense is a good one, has a good pass rush. “We’ll have our hands full trying to block these guys.”
  • He’ll have to wait and see if there will be any suspension on Swearinger for a helmet to helmet hit.
  • Run blocking was not very good. They are not moving the line of scrimmage.
  • Feels college football should do a better job protecting a defenseless quarterback after he’s thrown the ball.
