Steve Spurrier won’t change the offense if Connor Shaw can’t play (AUDIO)

Steve Spurrier still isn’t sure if quarterback Connor Shaw will be able to play this weekend against East Carolina. Shaw hasn’t practiced all week because of a shoulder injury he suffered in the first half of last week’s win at Vanderbilt. He was able to return late in the third quarter, but was in obvious pain after each hit and finished with just 67 yards passing.  His right arm has been in a sling since the end of the Vandy game and his status this week remains in doubt.

“If he’s in pain, he doesn’t need to be out there playing, Spurrier said. “From what I understand he thinks he’s not going to have any pain by the weekend, but we’ll just have to wait and see.”

If Shaw is not able to return to practice by Thursday the Head Ball Coach will turn to Dylan Thompson and/or Seth Strickland against the Pirates Saturday. Thompson and Strickland struggled in limited against Vanderbilt. That doesn’t mean Spurrier will alter the game plan if they end up replacing Shaw.

“We’ll keep it as is,” Spurrier said of his offensive plan.  “If we are throwing a bunch of completions we will keep firing away. If we’re not, we will go to the next plan, so we will have a similar game plan.
