Page decides to return home for final season

LaShay Page

6-2 LaShay Page of Latta wrapped up his official visit to USC Saturday and gave Frank Martin and his staff a commitment to play his final season with the Gamecocks.  Page is transferring from Southern Miss and was given a release by the Golden Eagles.

He will still need to get a waiver from the SEC to allow him to play right away.  Page will graduate from Southern Miss after completing a couple of courses this summer, but a year ago the SEC changed its rule and banned one year transfer graduate students.

But Page has overriding family issues, his mother died in February and he has a five year old daughter in Marion, and is hopeful of relief.

Page  played his senior season at Dillon where he averaged 31 points per game.  He spent one season at Chipola JC in Florida before moving to Southern Miss where he played the past two seasons.  He averaged 12 points per game last season in helping his team reach the NCAA Tournament where they lost to Martin’s Kansas State team in the second round.  Page scored 16 points in that game.

Page likely would walk right in to a starting job with the Gamecocks.
