Seddon, Marzilli lift Gamecocks past Furman 7-0 (AUDIO)

Freshman Joel Seddon and three other pitchers shutout Furman on four hits, and Evan Marzilli drove in four runs to lead USC to a 7-0 win over Furman Wednesday night at Carolina Stadium.  The Gamecocks improve to 37-12 while Furman falls to 22-26.  USC swept the two game series from the Paladins this season.

Marzilli’s three run homer in the fifth put the Gamecocks up 4-0.  It was his second home run of the season and both came against the Paladins.

The Gamecocks added two more runs in the 7th on an RBI single by LB Dantzler and a sacrifice fly by Kyle Martin.

Marzilli picked up his fourth RBI of the game in the 8th with a single to left field.  The four RBIs tie a career high. 

Seddon allowed two hits over five innings to pick up his second win against no defeats.  Nolan Belcher, Patrick Sullivan and Logan Munson followed Seddon to the mound.  Furman starter Ben Carlson took the loss.

The Gamecocks travel to Athens this weekend for a series with Georgia.  USC and LSU are tied for the overall lead in the SEC at 16-8.
