USC junior guards Eric Smith and Brian Richardson have been the subject of rampant rumors about their future with the Gamecocks. Most of the scuttlebutt has had the pair leaving for other schools.
But a source said Wednesday afternoon the two will be back at USC. That apparently will stop the bleeding in Frank Martin’s program after the two best players in the program, Anthony Gill and Damontre Harris, decided to transfer.
Smith played in 28 games last season averaging 14 minutes per game and just over 4 points per game.
Richardson suffered thru a season long shooting slump. He made just under 30% of his shots and averaged 3.2 points per game.
Currently there are seven scholarship players set to return for next season, and Martin has four players committed for the 2012 class. Bruce Ellington also plans to be back but his scholarship counts towards football.
