USC defensive end Melvin Ingram will take his talents to California as the first round pick of the San Diego Chargers in Thursday night’s NFL Draft. Ingram was the 18th player selected.
Ingram and teammate Stephon Gilmore, who was the 10th pick by Buffalo, are the first Gamecocks’ taken in the first round since George Rogers and Willie Scott were selected in the 1981 draft.

Ingram was a consensus All American last season after totaling 48 tackles with 10 sacks. He also scored 3 touchdowns. Ingram rang up 19 sacks over his final two seasons.
