Carl Pettersson took a one shot lead into Sunday’s final round of the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town and quickly put the contenders away as he breezed to a five shot victory. Pettersson had a final round of two under 69 . He birdied three of his first five holes to open up a working advantage and no one from the field could muster a run.

The victory is the first of the season for Pettersson who finished second in his previous outing at Houston. He also finished second in the season opening Sony Open in Hawaii. The win, the fifth of his career, improved Pettersson to fourth in the FedEx standings. Petterrsson is a native of Sweden who tied Jesper Parnevik for career PGA Tour victories by a Swede. He played at NC State and resides in Raleigh.
Zack Johnson shot a final round of 70 to finish second while second round leader Colt Knost slipped to a 74 Sunday and finished third six shots back.
Duncan’s Matt Bettencourt led the South Carolina players in the field finishing tied for sixth at five under par. Former USC golfer Mark Anderson finished tied for 13th for his career best performance on the PGA Tour.
