South Carolina had its final spring practice this afternoon at Williams-Brice Stadium, as the Gamecocks prepare for their spring game on Saturday afternoon.
Carolina practiced in helmets and shorts, as head coach Steve Spurrier hoped to emerge from the day with his team relatively healthy. Spurrier continued to bemoan his quarterbacks’ tendency to hold the ball too long, which he said led to several turnovers throughout the day.
As far as the quarterback rotation on Saturday, Spurrier said that starter Connor Shaw is expected to see around 15-20 snaps before his day will be done. The rest of the snaps will be split between the rest of the quarterbacks on the roster.
The job of backup quarterback appears to be a two-horse race, as Dylan Thompson and Seth Strickland are battling for the position. Both are expected to see plenty of reps on Saturday.
South Carolina’s spring game will start Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
