USC has announced it will hold a press conference tomorrow to introduce its next basketball coach. Barring what would amount to a a stunning late turn of events, the Gamecocks will name Kansas State’s Frank Martin as the new leader of its program.
The press conference will take place immediately after the Board of Trustees finishes its meeting to approve Martin’s contract. That meeting will take place at Colonial Life Arena and begin at 10:00 Tuesday morning. According to various reports, Martin’s deal will pay him close to two million dollars per season and run five or six years in length.
Martin is replacing Darrin Horn, who was fired after four seasons at USC. Last year the Gamecocks won just 10 games and finished 2-14 in the SEC, their worst conference record in school history.
