Recruiting Report 3.20.12

USC has made an offer to OL Marcell Lazard (6-6 293) of Bloomfield, NJ. Lazard also holds offers from Florida, Miami, Maryland, Connecticut, Boston College, Michigan, Ohio State, South Florida, Virginia and West Virginia. He has a current top five of Miami, West Virginia, Ohio State, Florida and Connecticut. He has visited Penn State, West Virginia and Connecticut. Lazard would like to make a decision before his season.

OL Bryce King of Dillon attended his first spring practice at USC this weekend and continues to take things slowly with his recruitment. “It went pretty good,” King said. “I got a chance to see how they run things during the spring.” King says he has not narrowed his list and does not have any favorites. His offers are from USC, Clemson, North Carolina, NC State, Tennessee and LSU. He has not scheduled his next visit but plans trips to Clemson and Virginia Tech. “I’ve been trying to get up to Clemson but have had some family issues that have made it difficult,” he said. “I plan on getting to a spring practice.” He added that a trip is being planned for Virginia Tech but was unaware of a date. He plans to visit other schools as well. King could revisit USC this spring.

DB Tre Bell (5-11 170) of Jersey City, NJ has offers from USC, Florida, Connecticut, Ole Miss, South Florida, Central Florida, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Michigan, Temple, Rutgers and Wisconsin. North Carolina and Notre Dame have now offered. He will visit Notre Dame this week. “I’m really looking forward to it,” Bell said. “It’ll be my first time there. I don’t know much about them but I look forward to learning more.” Bell continues to show a great deal of interest in USC, who was the first to offer him, and visits Columbia April 14th. “I think I’m going to be there for two days,” he said. “Coach (G.A.) Mangus has been telling me he looks forward to getting me on campus. I can’t wait to get down there.” Bell will visit Florida and West Virginia in April as well. “I don’t have any favorites right now and am keeping my options open,” said Bell. “South Carolina does have a chance at an official (visit).”

DB Von Bell (6-1 190) of Rossville, GA said he was offered last week by Clemson. Bell said the offer came from Tigers’ defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison. He was also offered last week by Missouri and Virginia Tech. His other offers include Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Maryland, Ole Miss, UCLA, Auburn, Oklahoma State, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame. Bell said he has seen on line where USC is listed as an offer but he’s had no contact from the Gamecocks, so he doesn’t consider them as an offer. Bell has visited Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee and plans to take some visits during his spring break, but he’s not sure where. He does not have favorites and wants to make his decision before his season.
