Recruiting Report 3.19.12

DE Robert Nkemdiche of Loganville, GA has set May 18th for his announcement date.  That is the day of his team’s final spring scrimmage. “I’m ready to commit because I know where I want go,” Nkemdiche told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.  His top five schools, in no order, are Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss.  He visited LSU this past weekend.  He does not have any other visits planned but is considering return trips to Alabama and Georgia for a spring practice.

DB Von Bell (6-1 190) of Rossville, GA said he was offered last week by Clemson. Bell said the offer came from Tigers’ defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison. He was also offered last week by Missouri and Virginia Tech. His other offers include Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Maryland, Ole Miss, UCLA, Auburn, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame. Bell said he has seen on line where USC is listed as an offer but he’s had no contact from the Gamecocks, so he doesn’t consider them as an offer. Bell has visited Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee and plans to take some visits during his spring break, but he’s not sure where. He does not have favorites and wants to make his decision before his season.

DE Tashawn Bower of Somerville, NJ cut his list of over 30 offers down to ten, and USC is one of the survivors. The rest of the list is Florida State, Ohio State, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Michigan, LSU, Miami and Michigan State. Bower visited USC in February.

RB Khris Francis (5-9 190) of Durham has offers from Clemson, North Carolina and Syracuse. He is committed to UNC but plans to visit Clemson with several teammates. “There are five of us from my school that have offers from the Tigers,” Francis said. “I’m not sure when we’ll visit but we’ll do it when all of us can go together.” He says though he is committed, he plans to take several visits. “I would say my commitment is solid,” he added. “It would take a lot to change my mind.” He looks forward to his trip to the Upstate. “My favorite running back played at Clemson,” he said speaking of CJ Spiller. “I can’t wait to finally see their school.” Other schools showing interest in Francis include Missouri, Duke, Alabama, Maryland and Penn State.

USC has contacted OL Joey Bloomfield of Louisville and wants him to come in for a visit. “They like my film and they want to meet me and develop a relationship,” Bloomfield said. Bloomfield is an offensive tackle. Bloomfield has visited Clemson and the Tigers want him back for a camp, which he plans to attend. He also has visited Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville and Illinois. He has been offered by Kansas. He’s also drawing interest from Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Texas A&M and Houston. He does not have a favorite.
