Recruiting Report 2.21.12

ATH Tramel Terry of Goose Creek will make a return visit to Georgia this Saturday. Terry was once a Georgia commitment and last visited there for the Auburn game last season. Terry was in Columbia Sunday for the High School Sports Report banquet. His USC recruiter, Steve Spurrier Jr., was the guest speaker for the banquet. Terry will go to Clemson March 3rd for a junior day. He plans to take his parents with him on that visit. He was at Clemson’s earlier junior day in January. He also took in USC’s junior day last month. USC, Clemson, Georgia and Florida are the top schools with Terry right now. His coach has said he does not plan to carry on the recruiting process much longer.

DL Montravius Adams (6-4 290) of Vienna, GA has offers from Clemson, USC, Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Florida State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Michigan State, Mississippi State and Southern Cal among others. He has visited Clemson and had a great time. “I liked Clemson a lot,” Adams said. “I really like their coaches. They have good facilities and a history of putting defensive linemen in the league.” He enjoyed his visit to Auburn as well. “They were my favorite team for a while,” he said after acknowledging he does not currently have a leader. “As a matter of fact, I’m wearing an Auburn hat right now.” Adams plans to visit USC in the future but has not set a date. He is showing interest in the Gamecocks but admitted he is less familiar with the program. Adams will visit Georgia this weekend and Florida March 3rd.

RB Ryan Green (5-11 190) of St. Petersburg adds Clemson, USC, Auburn, Virginia, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Tennessee to his offers of Notre Dame, Florida State, Florida, Kentucky, Miami, Purdue and South Florida. His father Vader expects an offer from LSU soon. “The thing is he doesn’t have a football coach right now,” Vader Green said. “They call his old football coach and he calls me. Then I call them back. He may have even more offers that we don’t know about.” Georgia, and Alabama are some of the other schools showing interest. His father says that Green does not have any favorites and is frustrated with reports that FSU and Notre Dame lead for his son’s services. “He likes those schools and he likes Auburn but there is no way to know who his favorites are right now because there are so many schools interested,” said Green’s dad. “We want to take a look at as many schools as we can before we narrow the list to ten.” The family plans to visit Clemson, USC, Ole Miss and Tennessee this spring if they can find the time. Green plays basketball and runs track as well. “I’m going to make him take two weeks off after basketball to give his body a rest,” said Vader. “We may visit LSU also if they’ve offered by then.” Green had planned to visit Clemson March 3rd but will attend an all-star camp instead. That is if his basketball season has ended. Vader Green wanted to make it clear that his son is interested in several schools but does not have a leader or any favorites.

OL Andy Dodd of Lindale, GA has offers from USC, Alabama and Georgia Tech and has been to junior days at each. He is going to Clemson’s junior day March 3rd and could come away with an offer from the Tigers. He’s been to Clemson a couple of times and he talked with recruiter Tony Elliott last week. He also talked with USC recruiter GA Mangus last week and plans to call him on Tuesday. Dodd is also getting interest from Miami, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and LSU. He does not have a favorite. “Everything is a big blur and I’m going to take my time,” Dodd said. Georgia Tech, however, might be a little stronger with him right now than the rest. “I’ve been there a lot and I’ve spent more time with them,” Dodd said. He wants to make a decision before the summer.

OL Cory Helms (6-3 290) of Alpharetta, GA has not yet been offered but he feels that first one is coming soon. “I think Kentucky is going to offer this week,” said Helms who is a center. “Clemson is really interested. I’ll find out more from them when I go to their junior day.” Helms was at Clemson for the Auburn game last season. He’s been to junior days at Georgia and Georgia Tech and is also going to Kentucky. Helms visited USC for the Florida game last season and the Gamecocks have sent him mail. He likes Clemson, USC, Kentucky and Georgia the most but is keeping all his options open. He’s also hearing from UCLA, Cal, Louisiana Tech and Central Florida. Helms would like to decide before his season if possible.
