QB Boeing Brown (6-4 218) of Brookfield, CT has received interest from several schools including USC and according to his father, favors the Gamecocks. “We went down there for a game and something just clicked,” his father Christopher said. “He loved everything about it. He loved the Horseshoe, the students and the friendliness of the people down there. He was recognized by several people walking to the stadium. That’s how serious they take football down there.” Brown will visit again in two weeks and then return during the spring. “We’re going to go down there in a couple of weeks to take a look around and to sit down with the coaches,” dad said. “We’ll go back during the spring for a couple of practices, maybe like a Friday and Saturday.” Auburn has starting showing a lot of interest in the Northeastern signal caller. “They told them they want to talk to him as much as they can and that they really like him a lot,” said his father. “Florida, Penn State, Michigan State, NC State and Wake Forest are some of the schools showing a lot of interest.” Other schools showing interest include Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Maryland, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Brown has taken visits to Penn State, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Illinois among others with USC’s campus remaining his favorite. Brown continues to wait for his first offer. “He really wants that one from South Carolina and coach (G.A.) Mangus has asked us to be patient,” he said.
DB Cameron Sutton (6-0 175) of Jonesboro, GA has picked up an offer from USC. He also has offers from Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and Kentucky. He’s also drawing interest from Georgia, LSU, Louisville, NC State and Oregon. Sutton had 2 interceptions on defense, and as a receiver he had 31 catches for 500 yards and 9 touchdowns.
OL Bryce King of Dillon will not take a scheduled visit to Virginia Tech next Saturday due to an illness in the family. “I’ve got a family member in the hospital so I’m not going to be able to go,” King said. King visited USC last weekend where he had a good time. There was a possibility he would commit to the Gamecocks on that trip but chose not to. “I told some people that there was a chance but I didn’t say I would,” he said. King has no timetable for a decision and plans to take several visits. “I don’t have a favorite and I am still looking around,” said King. “I’m going to visit Virginia Tech eventually but I’m not sure when.” He does not have any other scheduled visits in the near future but plans to take in spring practices at Clemson and USC. His offers are from USC, Clemson, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, LSU and Tennessee with interest from Miami, Alabama, Auburn and Wake Forest among others.
OL Ander Bodkin (6-4 290) of Marianna, FL is still seeking that first offer and is receiving interest from USC, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, LSU, Alabama and North Carolina among others. The Gamecocks remain high on his list. Bodkin has been using the off-season to work out and prepare himself for camps over the summer. “I definitely want to camp at USC,” Bodkin said. “Coach Elliott told me he wanted me at 280 (pounds). I was about 298 at Christmas and am down to 290 now. I want to be in great shape when I get there.” Bodkin has USC, FSU and Alabama among his favorites. “Miami wants me to come down for a combine and junior day but I don’t think I am going,” said Bodkin citing travel as an issue. He will attend a junior day in Tallahassee February 28th and is heading to Alabama for one as well. “I haven’t taken any visits lately because I want to get ready for summer camps,” he said. North Carolina has requested film from the lineman and LSU is showing more interest of late. He does not have a leader.
Spartanburg LB Justin Bridges-Thompson has USC at the top of his list and is anxiously awaiting a call from the Gamecocks with an offer. “He loves South Carolina, absolutely loves it,” said Vikings coach Freddie Brown. “He’s been down there a number of times. Every time he’s had a conversation with Steve Spurrier. He hopes he gets the offer so he can get closer to living his dream.” Bridges Thompson attended USC’s junior day last weekend. Brown said Oklahoma State has been showing a lot of interest in late. He said Bridges-Thompson plans to visit Tennessee and Oregon. He has offers from Wake Forest, Pittsburgh and NC State.
Clemson has put itself in the lead position with RB Wayne Gallman (6-1 195) of Atlanta. Gallman attended the Tigers’ junior day last month. “I loved everything about it,” he said. “I made a good connection with the coaches. I think I fit in perfectly with their offense.” Gallman will go to Georgia this weekend and he also plans to visit USC, Alabama, Florida State and Auburn. “Clemson is the leader but I’m still open,” Gallman said. “I’ve still got more schools to go to.” Gallman said his decision could come any time after the summer. Last season he rushed for 700 yards and 8 touchdowns.
OL Brandon Kublanow (6-3 290) of Marietta has added Clemson to his offer sheet. With offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Duke and Vanderbilt, Kublanow has picked up four new offers in the last two weeks. “Clemson, Boston College, Virginia and Maryland have offered” he said. “Clemson told me they really like the way I play and they want me to play for them.” He plans to visit March 3rd. “I’ve heard it’s really nice up there and I definitely want to visit.” USC, Florida, Texas, Alabama and Auburn are some of the schools showing interest. “I’m going to visit South Carolina during the spring,” Kublanow said. “I am interested in them as well.” He will visit Georgia Tech this weekend and Alabama February 18th. He has plans to visit Florida, Texas and Vandy in the near future. He does not have any favorites.
DE Garrett Sickels (6-4 235) of Red Bank, New Jersey has offers from USC, Alabama, Boston College, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Central Florida, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Stanford, Miami, Purdue, West Virginia and Oklahoma among others. Sickels is interested in several schools including the Gamecocks. “I plan to visit South Carolina this June,” Sickels said. “I like them a lot. First of all, they have Jadeveon Clowney. They have a strong defense and are very good in the SEC.” He has visited Florida, UCF, Tennessee, Penn State, Georgia and Rutgers. Gainesville stood out to him. “The weather is very nice there compared to here in Jersey,” joked Sickels. “Their facilities are awesome. I really like the town of Gainesville and felt really comfortable there.” He plans to return to the Sunshine State in April. He will visit Penn State February 18th and is planning trips to Alabama, Georgia and Notre Dame as well as USC. As a junior, Sickels totaled 76 tackles, 10 for loss, 11 sacks and two blocked punts returning one for a score. “That was fun,” he said. He does not have a leader.
North Carolina had several in state juniors on campus Wednesday for the Duke basketball game. Among the group was DE Tyquan Lewis of Tarboro. Lewis has been favoring Clemson since the Tigers’ junior day last month, but after his time in Chapel Hill Wednesday, the Tar Heels are a much bigger factor. “Reconsidering UNC,” Lewis said. “Coach (Larry) Fedora is one of the coolest coaches ever.” Lewis has offers from Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Duke, Wake Forest and East Carolina.
