Steve Spurrier has reinstated often troubled cornerback C.C. Whitlock. Last week USC athletic director Eric Hyman said Whitlock could return to the athletic program but that it would be Spurrier’s decision whether or not to allow him to return to the team. Spurrier announced today that Whitlock is welcomed back.
According to the report, Whitlock still has some academic hurdles to clear before he is eligible to play this fall. He will need to do well in his summer classes. If he is eligible he will still be suspended an undisclosed number of games (likely one to three) for his past athletic department violations.
If he makes it on the field Whitlock is expected to contribute on a Gamecock secondary unit that is heavy on talent, but low on experience and depth.
