It is true that the polls don’t really matter much this time of year but it is still good to keep an eye on where teams stand heading into the Super Regional round. The latest Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America polls clearly show that Clemson has its work cut out for them. Arizona State is second in both polls.
Clemson is 13th and 14th respectively in the two polls. LSU is the top team in both polls.
Also, for what it is worth, USC is 21st in Collegiate Baseball and 25th in Baseball America.
And I just have to mention this: The Louisville Slugger National player of the week is Texas left handed pitcher Austin Wood. He pitched 13 scoreless innings in the Longhorns 25 inning marathon win against Boston College Saturady. 12 1/3 of those innings he didn’t allow a hit. He entered the game in the seventh inning so he doesn’t get credit for a no hitter but this is clearly one of the great pitching performances in college baseball history. He struck out 14 hitter in his 13 innings of work. Texas won 3-2. Wow.
