USC starting catcher Justin Dalles is expected to be in the lineup when the Gamecocks take the field this afternoon in their NCAA Regional game against George Mason. He didn’t practice Thursday because of an illness and Ray Tanner wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to play today.
USC spokesman Andrew Kittick confirmed this morning that Dalles is feeling better today and should be ready to play. Dalles is hitting .295 with 12 homeruns and 37 RBI’s.
If for some reason Dalles can’t play, today Kyle Enders will start in his place.
We will see if Dalles can make it through the game. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 80’s today. Catching is arguably the most physically demanding job on the field so it will be interesting to see how Dalles rebounds from his sickness.
Regardless, Ray Tanner is undoubtedly happy to have Dalles at his disposal this afternoon.
