Former Clemson pitcher Jason Berken is making his major league debut tonight. He’ll start on the mound for Baltimore at Camden Yards. The Orioles are playing Toronto at 7:05 tonight.
Berken pitched at Clemson is 2003, 2004 and 2006. He didn’t pitch in 2005 because of “Tommy John” surgery. He pitched on the 2006 team that was a number one national seed and made it to the College World Series. That team finished with 53 wins and ranked fifth in the final polls. He was 18-6 with a 3.04 ERA during his Tiger Career.
Berken’s put up impressive numbers in Triple-A Norfolk this year (2-0, 1.05 ERA). Last year he was 12-4 in Double-A. Berken was selected by Baltimore in the sixth round of the 2006 draft.
